The church of Kjerringøy
Kjerringøy is a very old church community. Already in 1589 it is mentioned a “Kjerringøy choirhouse”, which was an annex under the main church of Rørstad. An old church was torn down in 1763, and a small longchurch was raised instead. This church became too small, and the tradesman Zahl worked a lot to raise a bigger church in 1883. He also arranged Kjerringøy to be an own church presbytery in 1887.
There is a separate booklet, which concerns the church of Kjerringøy, the vicarage and church relations, published for the church jubilee in 1983.
If you desire to see the church from the inside, a key can be provided in the expedition of Kjerringøy Old Trading Centre in the period that the trading centre is open.
