Kjerringøy Old Trading Center
The trading centre is located idyllic and stands forth as one of Norway’s most important building memorials from the 18’thmuseet.jpg century. It contains 15 antiquated buildings in a unique setting.
Here you gain a fantastic insight in north-Norwegian coastal culture, and you can see how everyday life was for both the upper class and the servants on a north-Norwegian trading centre in the end of the 1800’th century.
The old trading centre was on top of it’s status in the end of the 1800’th century, when the tradesman Erasmus B. K. Zahl worked the place up to be the richest trading centre in the north of Norway.
Zahl made very good business within purchase of fish, boats, exports and imports.
Nyfjøsen in the old trading centre is offering a café, museum-kiosk and tourist information.
Here you can see the beautiful pictureplay “Anna Elisabeth of Kjerringøy”.
We are recommending everyone who visits Kjerringøy, to pay the old trading centre a visit or two.
For further information we recommend to visit the homepage of Salten Museum.
